HUB 470:
I made a short trip into Lake Charles to see my parents and help my mother with a cocktail party she was hosting at their house last night. I always enjoy preparations for a party, and their guests—some old friends of the family, others newer acquaintances that they gather with in this fashion once a month—were all of my parents age or older… apparently just my kind of crowd. I do seem to get along so much better with folks of a more mature age than my own!

We had pears.
And chevre.
And a jam his mother made.
We walked in the garden.
Fresh arugula plucked and savored in the sunlight.
Something of anise on my tongue,
Something else, garlic.
We talked.
Soothing.
Reminders.
Rest.
Find time.
Take time.
Walk in a garden.
See dances where the turkey’s fly.
